The 19th Annual Hardin County Master Gardeners Plant Fair hosted by the Lincoln Trail Master Gardeners Association will be on May 20, from 8am-3pm eastern time. This Elizabethtown tradition will be held at the Hardin County Extension Office, 201 Peterson Drive. The Hardin County Farmer’s Market is just across the street, making this a great place to spend the morning shopping for your garden and your table.

The Hardin County Master Gardeners Plant Fair is organized and run by a dedicated group of Master Gardeners who spend the whole year coordinating for vendors, advertising, and planning great new ideas for the Plant Fair. This year we are introducing many new ideas that promises to be better than ever including a new entrance located between the Extension Office and Jacobi Sales.

On May 20, we will have 42 vendors offering aisles of garden art, vegetables, perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, trees, and more. There will be a booth where Master Gardeners will teach visitors how to apply a faux-verdigris painting technique. Customers can then use their new skills to paint a concrete ornament purchased from a nearby vendor.

The Plant Fair will be a great place to stay for lunch, with mouth-watering foods from Cox’s Catering, wonderful cinnamon nuts from Nuts Galore, and delicious offerings from Granny’s Kettle Corn. The Master Gardeners will have tables set up where you can rest, enjoy your lunch, and daydream about your garden and landscaping plans.

If you are the type to have eyes bigger than your shopping basket, we have you covered. This year the FFA members from Central Hardin High School Agriculture department will be on hand with wagons and carts. They are volunteering to be your own personal plant taxi and cart all of your purchases to your car for you! Feel free to tip your FFA taxi driver for their hard work and assistance.

A second option for all those purchases is our Merchandise Holding Area Booth. You can drop off your purchases at the booth where the master gardeners will take good care of them while you shop for more. When you are ready to leave, collect your plants yourself or get one of the FFA student volunteers to take your purchases to your car. For larger convenience, we have a special plant pickup area for your larger items like trees, etc. you may purchase.

If you have an unknown plant, weed, disease or pest in your garden, bring a sample to the Plant Fair. The Master Gardeners will have a booth set up to provide gardening advice and answer questions.

And last, but not least, will be your chance to win door prizes. Just sign up at the registration booth. You don’t have to be present to win. Bluegrass Garden has teamed up with the Master Gardeners to offer a $500.00 gift certificate to be redeemed at their store, and The Touch of Kentucky Bourbon Mastery has donated a half barrel bar to be give away to a lucky winner.

Admission and parking are free. No pets please unless you have a registered service animal. Handicapped parking is available with the appropriate permit. Please honor the smoke free environment that we offer our vendors and guests.

The Plant Fair is held rain or shine. Come join us for a great day of fun. Hope to see you at the 2017 Plant Fair Saturday May 20 from 8-3 EST at 201 Peterson Drive, Elizabethtown!!
